Superior Bordeaux
The Bordeaux-Supérieur appellation, created by the decree of October 14, 1943, is reserved for wines entitled to the Bordeaux appellation but meeting more stringent quality criteria.
Bordeaux-Supérieur is produced like the Bordeaux appellation throughout the Bordeaux vineyards, but it brings together wines from older vines. In addition, the wines of this appellation must be aged at least twelve months before their marketing, as well as other conditions giving the wines a greater potential for aging (alcohol level, maximum yield per hectare, etc.).
